Different Language Levels in the Magazine HRVATSKI!

Language Levels A1 – C2

The language magazine is intended for entertaining learning and is suitable both for self-study and for learning in a Croatian course.

The magazine with about 80 pages contains articles of different difficulty levels (A1 – C2) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe:

  • Basic level (A1 + A2) – Basic use of language
  • Intermediate (B1 + B2) – Independent use of language
  • Advanced Level (C1 + C2) – Advanced use of language.

Thanks to the division into five levels of difficulty, everyone can find something interesting in the magazine HRVATSKI!:

  • very easy – A1
  • easy – A2
  • middle – B1/B2
  • difficult – C1
  • very difficult – C2

The texts are suitable for beginners and intermediate learnes as well as for advanced students. For this purpose, some topics serve to learn new things, and at the same time are good for advanced learners for reviewing and refreshing their vocabulary.

Examples of the Articles of Different Language Levels

Take a look below at the examples of the texts in the language magazine HRVATSKI! at different language levels.

For complete beginners (level A1) there is in the first edition of HRVATSKI! an overview of the letters that are written and pronounced differently in Croatian than in English:

For language level A2 there is a larger selection of easier texts in the magazine, such as:

How is this continuing? Of course with the language level B1. However, the articles are sometimes additionally subdivided – e.g. the first part of the article “Lubenice na otoku Cresu” is intended for beginners (designated with “LAKO” = easy = A2). This is followed by the rest of the article in the medium level of difficulty (“SREDNJE” = middle = B1/B2). At the end of the article there is an extra difficult paragraph for advanced readers (“TEŠKO” = difficult = C1).

Of course, there are also articles with only one language level. Check out the following article for advanced readers:

And at the end you can see an example of the Croatian administrative language (language level C2), namely an example of the electricity bill:
